Kei Kusanagi is leading the life of a fifteen-year-old boy. He suffers from an unusual condition that triggers his body to enter a death-like state whenever he feels overly stressed or depressed, which he refers to as a "standstill." The duration of these standstills varies unpredictably, typically ranging from a few minutes to several hours. However, on one occasion, Kei entered a standstill and remained in it for three years. Thus, although everyone assumes he is 15, he is actually 18.

In the anime, Kei learns that his new teacher, Kazami Mizuho, is an extraterrestrial with the mission of observing Earth. Due to a significant misunderstanding, Kei faces the dilemma of either revealing her secret or marrying her (he opts for marriage). Initially, he is reluctant about the entire situation, but over time, he falls in love with her. This leads to various comedic and dramatic scenarios that he must navigate to achieve a happy life with his new wife.
