An apparently shrewd young woman, she appears wiser than her apparent years suggest. She has few friends and looks like a diminutive 15-year-old or younger, but is actually 21. Her physical development was stunted due to "standstills," similar to Kei's condition. She remained in a "standstill" for six years. Ichigo mourns the time lost to her illness and feels life has cruelly passed her by; she confides to Kei about her younger sister who is now married and expecting a child. This loss makes her more cynical and serious than someone her apparent age usually is, a trait noted by her younger friends.
To avoid triggering 'standstills,' she keeps her emotions under tight control, appearing phlegmatic. Despite this, she is very caring and tries to help Koishi and Kei by matchmaking them, not wanting them to experience the heartache she has endured from missed opportunities. She lives alone in a Spartan apartment, partly to avoid burdening her well-to-do family with her condition, while still maintaining ties to them for semblance of normalcy. At one point, she tells Kei that had they met earlier and shared their afflictions sooner, they might have grown closer.
Her sharp mind makes her suspicious of the coincidences surrounding their former teacher's departure, the new one's arrival, and strange neighborhood events. Her younger, naive friends dismiss these connections. She also deduces that Kei and Mizuho are secretly involved, yet chooses to observe rather than alert authorities, showcasing both intellect and compassion.
In Onegai Twins, she has changed significantly since becoming Student Council President. She exhibits a somewhat sadistic personality, taking perverse pleasure in others' troubles, especially schoolmates, while retaining her phlegmatic demeanor.
