The Resident Assistant of Sano and Mizuki's dorm, he is the nephew of Umeda-sensei and one school year older than Mizuki. Known as a "ladies' man," he is also very sensible. He once fell in love with his tutor, Kanako Tanabe, but she left him, which Umeda claims turned Nanba into the "ladies' man" he is today. It is said that he later became a model.

He, along with the other R.A.s, discovers that Mizuki is actually a girl but helps keep her secret, although it wasn't a well-kept secret for long. Among Mizuki's group of friends, he often clashes with Nakatsu.

Interestingly, he is a former winner of the Miss Osaka pageant during his first year at Osaka, though he isn't particularly proud of this fact.
