The guy that Mizuki Ashiya likes is an excellent high jumper. He discovers early on that Mizuki is actually a girl but keeps this information to himself and becomes very protective of her secret. Prior to Mizuki's arrival in Japan, Sano had been involved in an accident where he tried to save his team captain from being hit by a car, which resulted in an injury to his leg. This caused him to quit high jumping for some time as he believed he couldn't handle the pressure anymore. However, thanks to a deal Mizuki made with her brother—stipulating that Sano had to continue jumping while her brother was in Japan, or else Mizuki would have to return home—he got a second chance to pursue high jumping. Over time, Sano falls in love with Mizuki, but he can't confess his feelings because Mizuki believes that if Sano ever found out her secret, she would have to leave.
