matthew

Matthew was a candidate for the 287th Hunter Examination.

He overheard the Captain's instructions to Gon and his friends at Dolle Harbor and decided to follow them. During their journey, they were forced to stop in a deserted alley by the Quizzing Lady and a group of masked individuals. The old lady posed a difficult quiz question, giving them only five seconds to answer.

Matthew stepped forward and volunteered to answer first, hoping to set traps for the others. He provided his answer to the old lady, who then allowed him to proceed. However, the path he took turned out to be false. According to Kurapika, Matthew was attacked by a monster and likely killed.
