Born in Adachi ward, Tokyo, Masahiro Takenaka dedicated much of his life to battling various revolutions. Initially a member of the Japanese Red Army, he fled Japan after numerous comrades were arrested. Today, as a co-leader of the Protectors of the Islamic Front, Takenaka frequently engages in amicable disputes with his partner and friend, Ibraha.
Unlike his zeal-driven friend, years of experience have endowed Takenaka with the skill to rationally assess any situation. He is composed, affable, and sociable. As a communist, he is also an atheist.
Takenaka accurately deduced that the Lagoon Company, collaborating with Mr. Chang’s Triad, was heading to Basilan in the Philippines to deliver the P.I.F.'s schedule concerning a Presidential assassination in the United States. He managed to capture Rock, whom he believed possessed the documents (which were actually with Revy), but lost him when Revy, Shenhua, and Leigharch orchestrated a rescue. Additionally, he had to eliminate Ibraha when he attempted to command the hired Basilan insurgents into a suicidal assault on a government base to thwart their plans.
