During their confrontation, Leonof employed Lurald as the leader of a small terrorist faction, aiming to gauge Vash's capabilities. In the anime adaptation, Lurald takes on a more prominent role as Leonof's primary puppet, with multiple replicas appearing for reasons unexplained.
