Hibari is the head of the Discipline Committee, a group of delinquents who are fiercely loyal to him. Like his followers, he is known for his violent behavior and uses his authority to intimidate other students. Despite this, he prefers solitude and shows little concern for his subordinates. When in crowded areas, he often engages in dangerous "games" with rules such as "I'll kill anyone who wakes me up when I'm sleeping," where the loser may face severe consequences.
His famous catchphrase is "I'll bite you to death," which he uses whenever he's ready to fight someone. In one humorous scene, Ryohei misinterprets this phrase and imagines Hibari swallowing Gola Moska's head. He also has a habit of saying "wao" and tends to mock weaker opponents by calling them "herbivores." Hibari enjoys eating Japanese cuisine and hamburgers.
Though Hibari can be violent and cruel, he holds his school in high regard and is the only person who appreciates its anthem, even using it as his ringtone. He has a fondness for birds; he adopted one of the birds from Kokuyo assassin Birds' followers and trained it to sing his school song. This bird, affectionately called "Hibird," remains close to Hibari, even nine years and ten months into the future.
Reborn recognizes Hibari's exceptional abilities and considers him a potential addition to Tsuna's family. However, Hibari's main interests lie in eliminating those who obstruct his path or disturb his peace.
