Konatsu, sometimes mistakenly referred to as Konatsu Kunoichi, is a male kunoichi or female ninja and the love interest of Ukyo Kuonji toward the end of the manga. Like all of Ukyo's love interests, he is a male to female cross dresser.
Konatsu is often mentioned alongside the terms "Kunoichi" and "Kenzan." The name Konatsu translates to "short summer." Kunoichi literally means "female ninja," but can also be interpreted as "troubled one." Kenzan is an archaic Japanese phrase meaning "I've appeared here just now," though it is not his last name. Interestingly, when broken down, it signifies "sword" and "cruelty or brutality," reflecting the harsh treatment he endured from his foster family.
