One of the Black Hawks and Hyuuga's companion. Before the 5th volume, he was the newest recruit, the second youngest member, and the only Black Hawk who wasn't a Warsfeil. Konatsu is perceived as the most rational among the Black Hawks, often feeling stressed or irritated by his superior, Hyuuga's behavior. He is diligent and strives to perform his duties to the highest standard. Konatsu frequently acts as the voice of reason within the Black Hawks, finding everyone around him rather peculiar. The new member, Shuri, looks up to him, addressing him as "onii-sama". He is quite naive and shy, tending to panic easily. Katsuragi describes Konatsu as having a "beautiful soul". Konatsu almost always carries a bat with him, using it to relieve stress. Similar to Hyuuga, he wields two swords but typically uses only one in combat. Like Kuroyuri, Konatsu enjoys candies that most people would find unpalatable (as seen when he found a candy delicious while it made Haruse and Hyuuga faint). However, unlike Kuroyuri, Konatsu does have a sense of taste, though why he enjoys these candies remains unclear. Unlike the rest of the Warren family, Konatsu doesn't possess Warsfeil abilities. This led to his exclusion by his family, except for his grandfather. Despite this, he compensates for his lack of black magic with exceptional swordsmanship skills. Although he graduated top of his class from the military academy, Konatsu chose to apply for the Black Hawks to fulfill his dream of becoming a Warsfeil; his grandfather had told him that the Black Hawks' leader, Ayanami, was believed to be Verloren and could turn Konatsu into a Warsfeil if he became Ayanami's subordinate. Konatsu was initially rejected by the Black Hawks. Just as he was about to give up, he saw Hyuuga practicing swordsmanship in the academy's backyard. Hyuuga quickly recognized him and invited him to a duel, offering his sword as a reward if Konatsu could touch him. Konatsu accepted the challenge, unaware that Hyuuga was a Black Hawk, and lost badly. However, he unconsciously attempted to choke Hyuuga in his sleep, thus laying a "hit" on him. When Konatsu woke up, Hyuuga not only gave him his sword but also an application to join the Black Hawks for Konatsu to sign. Even though his initial goal was to become a Warsfeil, Konatsu has not undergone this transformation, realizing that what he wanted would be meaningless if given to him by someone else. Unlike other members, he hasn't given half of his soul to Ayanami either.
