Akito's mother, Koharu, passed away during childbirth, an event that significantly strained the relationships between Akito, Natsumi, and Fuyuki. Despite her death occurring over a decade before the series begins, she makes intermittent appearances through memories, photographs, and flashbacks. One of her most crucial appearances is in Volume Eight, where Akito experiences a near-death scenario. In this moment, Koharu appears as a stranger and encourages him to live, stating he is too young to die and has the strength to carry on. Upon realizing her identity, Koharu echoes Sana's words from Volume One, expressing her love for Akito and urging him to live for both of them.
In her youth, Koharu was known to be quite rebellious or "wild," much like Fuyuki. The manga mentions that she was once a Yankee, highlighting her past as a troublemaker.
