Akito is characterized as a lone wolf because he is quiet, reserved, and prefers to keep his distance from others. He carries guilt imposed by his family for his mother's death, an event he was not responsible for. Due to his troubled past and school issues, Akito is maliciously labeled as a devil by his relatives. As the leader of a group of hooligans, he and his gang spent their days bullying the school. However, things began to change when Sana entered his life; he became kinder and ceased his bullying of the girls in his class.
Akito struggles with expressing his emotions, particularly towards those he cares about, often displaying anger when faced with personal problems. Most of his behavior stems from his tumultuous family life.
He frequently feels jealous when he sees Sana with other boys, admitting that he does not hate her. Later in the series, he grows frustrated with Sana, who remains oblivious to his feelings despite him having kissed her three times and even touching her chest. He starts dating Fuuka after she confesses her love to him. This leaves Sana feeling jealous and heartbroken, leading Akito to finally admit that he has always loved her, though he had never said it aloud.
In the 2009 one-shot manga "Deep Clear," a crossover between Kodomo no Omocha and Honey Bitter, Akito is married to Sana, and they have a child together named Sari.
