Kiyomi Takada first appears in chapter 31 as Light's classmate and girlfriend. Known as "Miss To-Oh" (English version) or "Miss Todai" (Japanese version), she is a popular girl at To-Oh University, also referred to as "Refined Takada." Light observes that she is more complex than her reputation suggests. She briefly reappears by Light's side in chapter 32 but does not return to the story until chapter 85, when she becomes an announcer for NHN chosen by Mikami to be Kira's spokesperson. This decision is made because Mikami sees her as educated, intellectual, and capable of delivering Kira's message calmly and accurately. Light must figure out how to turn his ex-girlfriend into an ally, especially since he disappeared from everyone he knew during university, leaving his mother to believe he had run off with Misa. Light considers Takada more intelligent and proud than Misa. However, Near's background research on Takada reveals that she is merely studious, not truly intelligent. By chapter 88, when Light reveals his identity as Kira to her, Takada confesses that Light is the only man she has ever respected. Discovering that he is Kira only deepens her admiration, especially when he asks her to be his queen in their ideal world. Mello and Matt kidnap Takada; during the kidnapping, Takada's bodyguards shoot Matt, while Mello takes Takada. Forced to undress by Mello, Takada writes his real name in the Death Note. In chapter 99, after informing Light that she has killed Mello, Light writes her name into the Death Note, causing her death by fire. According to *How to Read 13*, Takada was born on July 12, 1985, and dies on January 26, 2010. She stands at 5'4" and weighs 97 lbs, with blood type AB.
