Kimiaki is a childhood friend of Keitaro's who enjoys teasing him about his failures with girls and academics. However, he eases up as Keitaro becomes more successful. He is almost always seen alongside Haitani. His primary interests revolve around women, and one of his few redeeming qualities is his skill with computers. He is short and typically depicted wearing large, round glasses. In the fifth volume of the manga, Su even refers to him as a "small, fat, Hobbit." A recurring joke in the series is that none of the girls at the Hinata Inn can remember who Shirai and Haitani are, despite their frequent presence.
