A young woman whom Kaneda encounters on his journey to locate Tetsuo, she is part of an anti-government faction that includes Ryu and Nezu. In the manga, she appears more attractive and seems slightly older than Shotaro Kaneda, who himself looks younger compared to the film adaptation.
Kei's significance within the Resistance lies in her unwavering loyalty to its objectives and to Ryu. Her character is much more fleshed out in the manga, where she transcends being merely a 'hard-to-get' romantic interest for Shotaro Kaneda. Displaying strong determination, Kei uncovers that Lady Miyako possesses psychic abilities as well. Miyako aids Kei in channeling her thoughts, revealing her potential as a medium for the Espers' telepathy. This role is played by Kiyoko in the movie, while Kei communicates with both Kaneda and Tetsuo. She collaborates closely with Chiyoko, a physically robust and resilient member of the resistance, and they support each other through their struggles.
