Kazuma is a wealthy and renowned computer games programmer. He frequently uses his laptop, which he always carries with him, to assist in finding information. Initially, after learning he was part of Class Q (then considered the lowest class), he sought a transfer to Class A. However, when his classmates supported him during a difficult time, he decided to stay with them. Kazuma shares a friendly rivalry with Kinta due to their differing detective methods. They often become the target of each other's jokes. Though exceptionally intelligent, Kazuma initially struggles to find correct answers without his "lucky" hat, as shown in episode 2; by the end of the TV series, he seems to have overcome this weakness.
