She is the Queen of the Karura clan and the Southern Bushinshou. She deeply cares for her younger sister, Karyoubinga, and this concern was the sole reason she remained loyal to Taishaku-ten—to protect Karyoubinga from harm. Every member of the Karura clan has a bird linked to them, similar to a familiar. Karura-ou's bird is Garuda, which also serves as her weapon. She can use her energy for attacks and summon Garuda to fight her enemies.
After Taishaku-ten murdered Karyoubinga and fed her body to his beasts, it drove Karura-ou to madness. She attacked Taishaku-ten, but the Southern General Zouchou-ten shielded him from the attack and pleaded with Taishaku-ten not to kill Karura-ou, but instead to strip her of her title. Taishaku-ten agreed, but because Karura-ou had rebelled against him, her clan was still in danger. To ensure their safety, she faked her death, pretending to have committed suicide. (With the Queen supposedly dead, the clan could no longer be punished.) She then secretly joined Yasha-ou, Ashura, and the others.
In the final battle, Karura-ou is killed by Taishaku-ten during a one-on-one fight. As she dies, she regrets not avenging her sister’s murder but finds solace in reuniting with her sister, as Karyoubinga is seen collecting Karura-ou’s soul.
