Kaou, also known as the "Flower Emperor," is a formidable demon that thrives on the sorrow of others. After consuming their despair, he disposes of their used bodies by returning them to the earth. He appears as a nobleman with dark, unkempt hair and is frequently seen carrying a fan. Kaou's abilities are so potent that he can cast his enchantment over an entire village. He often exhibits a kind and caring demeanor, which aids him in lulling others into the trance induced by his flowers. Shortly after Kikyou's death, Inuyasha's group crossed paths with Kaou. He successfully placed Inuyasha under his spell, allowing him to release all his sorrow over Kikyou's demise. However, driven by rage for exploiting his emotions as sustenance, Inuyasha soon destroyed Kaou.
