One of the most dedicated members of the investigation team, little is known about him aside from his steadfast commitment. He is notably quiet, often choosing silence even when directly questioned by Near about the Japanese Investigative Team. Despite being visibly affected by Near's theories, he remains tight-lipped. However, he gradually begins to support Near's hypothesis that Light is Kira. Interestingly, Mogi demonstrates exceptional acting skills, portraying a cheerful and excited demeanor that starkly contrasts his usual reserved nature. In the first arc, he assumes the role of Misa's manager under the alias Kankichi Moji after Matsuda's staged death. Misa affectionately calls him "Mochi" based on this alias. In the second arc, Mello seeks to meet Mogi to gather information on Kira and tricks him into visiting Near at the SPK headquarters.
