Ushiro Jun's younger sister, who endured his abuse silently without complaint.

Kana permitted Jun to mistreat her because she was aware of a significant secret about his origins - he wasn't related to her by blood and had been adopted. Despite this, Kana continued to see him as her brother and even went as far as to seek out his birth mother. It turned out that Jun's biological mother was Tanaka.

In the manga, it was known beforehand that Kana’s battle would be an "away" one. The Japanese military was hesitant to solely depend on her capabilities due to her young age, so they collaborated with Koemushi to find a workaround: for away missions, only items that could fit within the cockpit could be transported along, leading them to choose a fighter plane. Tanaka took the role of the pilot, and during the mission, she promised Kana that if she survived, she would reveal to Jun that she is his real mother. As Tanaka was nearing death, Kana herself disclosed the truth to Jun. Consumed by fury over Tanaka's demise, Kana swiftly defeated the enemy.
