When Kamui is first introduced in X, he seems to be a brooding, somewhat arrogant fifteen-year-old from Okinawa with extraordinary telekinetic powers. He returns to Tokyo, where he spent his early childhood, for the first time in six years, driven by his deceased mother's mysterious last words that his destiny awaits him there.
In Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle, Kamui leads a group of survivors residing in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. Charismatic and enigmatic, wielding strange, inhuman powers, he is determined to recover a certain person and will do anything to achieve this goal. It is later revealed that he is a vampire and the twin brother of Subaru, whom Seishirou is pursuing. As payment for Subaru's wish, Kamui provides Fai with his blood to save Fai's life.
