Ian (known as Ivan Papov in the Japanese version) only appears in the first series. He is portrayed as a mischievous and sharp-tongued blader who works for Boris. While he respects Boris, he shows no such respect towards his opponents. Ian is a challenging opponent to face due to his bitbeast's ability to dodge other Beyblades around the stadium. He is quite confident, believing that Biovolt is a powerful force that will prevail and make him stronger. However, in G-Revolution, he remains in Russia after losing to Kai in the preliminary rounds. Despite this, he continues to be an integral part of the Blitzkrieg Boys team, showing loyalty to his teammates.
Ian is the shortest member of the Blitzkrieg/Demolition Boys. He has a distinctive long nose, a wyvern bitbeast named Wyborg, and wears goggles. His personality is typically cool and cold, much like Kai’s. He is often seen with Tala, though they rarely converse. Ian’s eyes are magenta red. Though small, he is tough.
In Beyblade G-Revolution, Ian disappears when the rest of his team forms the Blitzkrieg Boys. It is likely that he still possesses Wyborg, although it may have been upgraded. In the manga, however, Ian and Kai battle to determine who will earn a spot on the Demolition/Blitzkrieg Boys team for the World Championships. The manga depicts Ian losing the match, thus allowing Kai to take his place on the team.
His beyblades include Wyborg with the Wy Crusher attack and Wyborg 2 featuring the Sand Bind and Dive Bomb attacks.
