Hayato Shingu is an incredibly passionate individual. He lives intensely in the moment, experiencing emotions like rage, shock, and grief with immediacy and depth. His strong sense of justice drives him to protect the vulnerable and punish wrongdoers without hesitation. When Hayato was seven, he witnessed the Egrigori massacre his village, killing everyone, including his family, and burning it to the ground. He also saw Keith murder his father and sever Hayato's left arm. His lost limb was replaced by an ARMS prosthetic. Hayato then lived with his grandfather Juzo, where he trained in martial arts. Haunted by his parents' deaths, Hayato dedicated his life to revenge, relentlessly hunting down and destroying Egrigori agents. After meeting Ryo and other ARMS users, Hayato developed more self-control, self-awareness, and compassion. Eventually, he abandoned his quest for vengeance and became a protector instead of a destroyer. Over time, Hayato and Kei seem to be developing a relationship, though its future remains uncertain. Hayato's ARMS, called White Knight (or simply Knight), is concentrated in his left arm. The Knight appears to embody Alice's will to protect. It transforms Hayato's arm into multiple combat blades and a projectile launcher for close combat. The blades generated by the Knight are believed to be the hardest substance an ARMS can produce, though this may vary based on Hayato's emotional state and skill level. The Knight's nano-machines enable Hayato to heal faster than a normal human, even when untransformed. In its ultimate form, the White Knight becomes a powerful armored knight wielding the "Lance of Mistilteinn," which can destroy other ARMS with an Anti-ARMS Nano-Virus, negating their regenerative properties.
