Hake is the Inukami of the family's head, who assigns most missions to other Kawahira family members.
He formed a contract with the family head when she was around Keita's age on a Non-contract day, which happened to be her birthday fifty years before the series began. He claims he did so because he was bored with his eternal, uneventful life.
The contract item given to him are the decorative beads he wears. Additionally, there is evidence suggesting that his weakness is fleas.
