Gola Mosca, which translates to "throat fly" or perhaps more fittingly "Gluttony Fly" in Italian, seems to be the initial series of the Mosca weapons. Originally developed by the military but concealed until the Vongola family took over the project. The military halted further development of the Mosca weapon due to its requirement for a human life force capable of generating a powerful dying will flame to fuel its operations.
The Varia possessed a prototype from the Gola Mosca series equipped with a deactivation button on its back, as well as an advanced model without such a button. Once activated, the advanced model was considered virtually unstoppable. The latest iteration of Gola Mosca was dressed as an official member of the Varia and was considered a potential Cloud Guardian for Xanxus's Family. However, it was swiftly defeated by Hibari, who stripped it of its right to the ring. Unfortunately, Hibari failed to fully deactivate Gola Mosca, leading it to go on a rampage, attacking any living entity detected by its sensors.
When Tsuna arrived, he managed to overpower the weapon and sliced it in half, revealing the restrained and bloodied body of the 9th Vongola Boss. Xanxus exploited this situation to frame Tsuna and attempt to become the 10th Boss, securing loyalty from the majority of the Vongola Famiglia. As a Varia member, Gola Mosca embodies the sin of Gluttony because Beelzebub, the demon associated with gluttony, is known as the "Lord of the Flies" and takes the form of a giant fly.
