He was once engaged to marry Usagi and spent his childhood taking care of her in their ninja village. Goemon ended the engagement after sustaining severe injuries during a mission, believing he could no longer provide for or protect Usagi. Despite this, it's clear he still harbors feelings for her and often disrupts communication between Hanzō and Usagi. He survived the attack on Iga because he was away on a mission that night. When Goemon breaks the ninja code by stealing money, Usagi intervenes to stop him. Although he remains protective of Usagi and deeply desires her happiness, he eventually marries Yuri.
