Ku Fei is an energetic and cheerful Chinese girl with excellent motor skills and proficiency in Chinese martial arts. She specializes in Xingyi Quan and Bagua Zhang, though she also has some knowledge of Baji Quan and Xinyi Liuhe Zhang. After winning the Mahora Academy Martial Arts Tournament, she attracts a crowd of challengers every morning, whom she easily defeats in a style reminiscent of Akane Tendo.

Following the Kyoto trip in volume 6, Negi begins daily training sessions with her, forming a master-student relationship. Despite her prowess as a fighter, Ku Fei struggles academically, particularly in Japanese, often speaking in broken sentences. This has earned her the title of "Baka Yellow" among the five worst students in Negi's class, known as the Baka Rangers.
