Caiman is the main character in the manga. He seems to be a victim of a magic user who placed a curse on him, transforming his head into that of a large reptile. Aside from this, he has no memory of his past life. His appearance includes cross-shaped marks over each eye. Remarkably, even after having his head severed, Caiman can regenerate it over time. Eventually, Caiman regains his human face and lost memories, but the truth about his identity is more complex than expected. Originally, he was a human boy named Ai Coleman from Hole. Ai underwent surgeries to become an artificial magic user, leading his consciousness to fragment into several quasi-independent personalities attached to multiple heads, including Aikawa and Kai. For much of his time in Hole, Caiman wore one of Kai's heads, as evidenced by the crosses around his eyes. He switched to Aikawa's head, which lacks crosses, after experiencing a flashback at the Zagan school of magic. During his fight with En, when Ebisu's reptilian magic was dispelled, Caiman was still wearing Aikawa's head, causing him to revert to the Aikawa personality rather than Kai at that moment.
