The mother of Blanche. Upon learning that her husband has been unfaithful with her own daughter, she spirals into madness. She becomes convinced that Blanche stole her beauty at birth and thus hires an assassin to eliminate her. When the assassination attempt fails, she takes matters into her own hands. After locating Blanche's hiding place, she disguises herself as an old woman and tries to give Blanche a poisoned apple. Blanche sees through the disguise but chooses to eat the apple anyway. She tells her mother how she had always needed to fend for herself because her mother never protected her. Horrified, Blanche's mother flees, feeling guilty for killing her own daughter. However, Blanche doesn't actually die. Soon after staying in Ludwig's kingdom, she confronts her mother and has her killed by forcing her to wear red-hot iron shoes, making her dance until she dies.
