Wai-San Chang, also known as Mr. Chang, is the leader of a Triad branch located in Thailand. Similar to Revy, he excels at handling a pistol in each hand (Beretta 76 and AMT Hardballer) with a technique reminiscent of gun fu. Chang's proficiency surpasses Revy's; in episode 11, she admits that she is "not on his level yet," an unusual acknowledgment of her own imperfection. It remains unclear whether this refers to her overall gunplay or specifically to Chang's unique style. This combat mastery might be why Revy respectfully addresses him as "Sir," the only man to whom she does so.
Mr. Chang is modeled after characters frequently portrayed by Chow Yun Fat in John Woo films, such as John Lee in Replacement Killers and especially Mark Gor in A Better Tomorrow. Both Chang and Gor are members of the Hong Kong Triad, wield dual pistols, and sport similar attire. Unlike many criminal bosses in the area, he promotes cooperation and joint ventures.
