He lost his mother some time ago and has always blamed himself for it. He lives with his father, who is seldom at home, but despite the distance, they share a deep bond of love. Arou is an exceptional cook, preparing lunch for Kanade—and Namiki, the unexpected guest—who often laments that her own culinary skills "don't come close to his." Shy and introverted by nature, Arou only opens up to Kanade (and Namiki, his romantic rival with whom he frequently clashes). Despite being quite popular and having the option to date any girl in school, Arou would never choose anyone over Kanade because she has the unique ability to uplift his spirits no matter how down or unhappy he feels. His friends affectionately call him Arou-kun. Although he and Namiki argue a lot, there's genuine care between them.
