Tsuyoshi's charming younger sister, Aono, is a big fan of Sana. She carries around a store-bought egg, hoping it will one day hatch into a chicken.
One day, Sana buys a chick and secretly swaps it with Aono's egg when she isn't looking. Akito criticizes Sana for this, arguing that Aono will eventually realize the deception and feel foolish and humiliated. However, Sana believes that children should have dreams, and the joy Aono will experience from the chick will outweigh any future disappointment, as happiness lingers while grief fades.
This incident makes Sana realize that Rei has been pretending to be her boyfriend just as she gave Aono a chick—to let a child dream. This realization helps Sana move on from her feelings for Rei, allowing her to see him as a friend and manager instead.
