Cain and Jizabel's father, Alexis, was abusive and a skillful manipulator. He blamed Cain for Augusta's insanity and death, vowing to make his life unbearable. As the leader of Delilah, he assigned ranks to members within the secret organization. The only person he ever truly loved was his sister, Augusta, despite being in an arranged marriage with a woman whom he later murdered. While Cain believed that Alexis had raped Augusta, it was actually she who seduced him.
After Augusta's death, Alexis stole her head from her coffin before she was cremated on their father's orders. Using cells extracted from her head, Alexis created several clones of her; all but one perished. The remaining clone lacked a soul, and he hoped to coax her spirit into it using a magic ritual. His research into creating a new body for his sister led to the creation of the dolls.
Alexis simultaneously despised and wished happiness for his sons.
