Anko's dream was to become an idol, a pop singer, but that dream crumbled when she became one of the contracted pilots for Zearth. Anko is the daughter of a journalist who uncovered her connection with Zearth. When questioned by him, she revealed everything except her ultimate fate. Her father and the military tried to concoct a story about Zearth and the children to pacify public opinion. However, their plans were foiled by Karita, a boy who falsely claimed on TV to be a Zearth pilot, causing public outrage that led to his assassination. Subsequently, Anko’s father received permission to broadcast her battle from inside the cockpit globally. Even as acid from the enemy’s piercing needles breached the cockpit, nearly killing Anko and Machi, he refused to stop the transmission despite objections. Afterward, supportive messages flooded in, which he used to motivate her. She turned the tide by using the enemy robot's own needles against it, sealing her victory by destroying the enemy cockpit. Her father then revealed he had known about her impending death. After apologizing for the casualties caused by Zearth's battles, Anko died in her father's arms. Her chair was a legless round stool. Thanks to her declaration, the army fabricated a story claiming Komo, Anko, and deceased Karita were the only pilots.
In the anime, Anko’s story diverges significantly. Her father, working alongside Komoda’s father and Kanji’s mother, aimed to save the children from their contract and expose the truth about Zearth despite government efforts to conceal it. He resigned from his job at the TV station after his affair with a famous model was exposed, coinciding with Anko being chosen for the Tenth match. With Kanji’s support, Anko found strength to face the scandal and confront her enemy directly, securing a swift victory before passing away happily in his arms.
