I had an initial theory Sadakore was Kojiro's father, but honestly it wouldnt make sense because his dad was being invaded and therefore had to send off Kojiro to Jisai almost twenty years ago. But I think Sadakore was a great lesson for Kojiro to learn about fending for himself without his sword, and by being scrappy enough to combat against a skilled swordsman.
