REAL Chapter 8 Discussion

A cameo from Sakuragi! From Slam Dunk!







And the title of the manga was "finally" used.



I felt really bad for Takahashi, seeing him play as a child, happy to fulfill his mother's and everyone else's expectations, enjoying the easy going life he had had.

The meeting with that other girl and the flashback to the accident was bad enough (especially since Seki told Nomiya that everything would be fine with him) but that blank expression at the end was extremely powerful.




  





On a more positive note, I was so happy to see Kiyoharu bounce back!



I wasn't sure what he'd do after chapter 7. I assumed he would leave the team and try to get stronger on his own (or with Nomiya) before returning but this way it's much better! (and realistic ;-) )

I was also happy to see that that Tigers member who'd told him to go away, assumed that Kiyo'd left for good only to find him training even harder than usual and with that sly smile on his face!

I know it's only been 8 chapters but I felt extremely proud of Kiyoharu to face his weakness this way.

That explanation (that he has nothing else) made me connect with him even more than before. And I loved the moment where he fell down and still was so certain that the Ball would go in, looking happy and smug as usual!




  

Well... He got a lot of visitors but all of them were bearers of bad news. His bimbo girlfriend decided that it was a good idea to make out with him while he was asleep and to make an insensitive comment about wanting to get admitted in the hospital even though she was lucky enough to not become a part of the accident. Seki came to visit him but Takahashi tried to act like the asshat he always was and made it easier for him to say that he's been replaced as captain already. The doctors then revealed his real condition he just couldn't believe what he'd just found out.



Kiyo's trying his best to get good again and is acting like a really good sport since there's nowhere for him but there anymore.

Hisanobu still is a douche.



Seems like Kiyoharu got his shit together.

Nobu will start playing wheelchair basketball, no doubt.

                        Togawa did great despite falling off his wheelchair.. as for Nobu, it looks like he's living in hell.

his girlfriend is so freaking ugly! lol. why did he choose to hang out with her of all peopl??? haha. i'm sure the former captain could've done better

Nobu is still in denial and has not accepted his new reality. He is also still his usual self and very unaware of how he treats others as well as what others truly think of him. The art in this series is stunning as well. This is Nobu's rock bottom but I'm excited to see if and how he comes back from this.
