This was a surprisingly good conclusion to an arc that overstayed it's welcome for way too long.
For starters, this arc could have been much better if the anime had not given away the ending so blatantly so long ago. It had it's good parts but frankly it didn't have them too frequently which in turn dragged the whole thing down significantly. In fact most of those high points were mainly cause they touched on the inheritance storyline (you know...the GOOD one).
What really made me tolerate the arc for this long was the fact that Ruka was a good and loveable character, and she still has a small role to play in the overall story seeing how she is still on the list of possible people that can open the Royal Garden entrance (or so the manga has led me to believe). She might disappear for a while but she will be back guaranteed.
It feels so good to know this arc is finally over...who knows, maybe now Hata will finally start to wrap things up? (doubtful). He keeps putting the real interesting parts of the series on hold for so long it's maddening but I'm so interested in knowing what will happen I can't stop reading. Dealing with Athena's condition with the use of the Shirosakura, the inheritance, Himegami, Yozora, Hayate's brother, and the Maria arc we were promised sooooo long ago. I think it's time Hata starts delivering these.
