Well everything went according to plan.

Well, almost.

Asuka and Shinji's near perfect synchronization, coupled with Sadamoto's masterful art, made this a breathless fight to savour. Their success on synchronization could also be symbolized as the next step to their relationship.

To end this on a bitter note, I really hate that smile on Gendo's face. More sinister than sincere if anything.

Yeah, I don't think Shinji could do a handstand or handsprings irl either. I can't remember all of how this fight happened in the anime, but it's basically the same. I thought the moves they memorized in the anime were closer to the dance moves they learned. But maybe i'm not remembering it right. Oh well, another volume completed and another angel defeated.

It’s nice to see everything work together, thought I never understood how mastering a dance translated into that fight scene because I don’t quite believe they could mimic the moves that they were doing in their Evas.  I would say the best part of that chapter was seeing Gendo’s smile.

This has been the most enjoyable volume yet.  Asuka added comedy and action that provided a necessary uplift for the story.

Gendo's little smirk when Asuka and Shinji did their coordinated kick speaks volumes.

Not much dialogue so it was easy to read it at a fast pace

Volumes 4, 5 & 9 are definitely my favorites, which all happen to have a lot of Asuka, heheh.

I've never really understood how Evas work either. The way I rationalize it is they practice the dance routine more so they can move in tandem rather than for the sake of memorizing the actual routine, even if that's not how it was presented. I doubt Shinji can do back handsprings irl, or that they have an adequate amount of space to practice the real thing.

I seriously lol'd when Misato found them still asleep. So, yeah, not much to say. They kicked the Angel's in their (assumed) teeth and won the day. I was totally imagining the musical piece that played in this battle during the anime.

I wish Asuka would move in with them like in the anime, I've digged how their relationship has been handled so far.

This was still amusing, but it was never going to top the anime version of the battle, the moments where the music synced up with the Eva's movements was brilliant and just can't be captured in manga format. That aside, I think I prefer the manga version of these events. Excellent volume.
