To preface, if you enjoy reading novels with mentally ill main characters and appreciating them as the perverse individuals they are, you can ignore my review and the mediocre score. The yandere tag is very relevant, and personally, I couldn't find it in myself to continue.So, while I had expected it from the synopsis, the main character is negging. And while I think novels depicting twisted behavior aren't inherently bad, I dislike how this one goes about it. It's written almost as a self-masturbatory guide on how to neg your beautiful girlfriend. The way the author mixes in Sestune's perspective to demonstrate how well MC's emotional manipulation is working doesn't read as an insightful look at a yandere's behavior, but as deterministic demonstration of a sick method of behavior.I understand that some people know it's sick and manipulative, but I think it's just as easy for someone to browse this site looking for a quick read, and stumble upon this short novel that extolls the effectiveness of emotional ab*se without knowing. So for their sake, here's what should be an obvious disclaimer: The behavior demonstrated in this novel is abusive, and the depictions shown are not realistic in any fashion.I personally find skin-deep novels like this one disturbing in how it could shape people's understanding of relationships, and felt obligated to at least write it a review where it has none, with a 4.3-star rating. Read at your own peril. Maybe the novel turns it around and reflects upon how bad of a behavior negging is, but I can't say since I couldn't stomach finishing it. Hopefully someone stronger than I writes a review for the full story.
