Arrogant this, arrogant that, the author and all the characters in this novel have only ever one thing to say about the protagonist: He's arrogant. Except he's not. At all. They also cannot decide whether he's loyal or a traitor. One moment he's being asked to do things only a loyal man could be trusted with. The next, he's being told he's a traitor that cannot be trusted. I just get the feeling like it's not the characters in the novel that all have the exact same problem, it's just the author who can't seem to keep characterization consistent with plot progression. All in all I quickly tired of the vapid conversations that seemed to lead nowhere and inconsistent characterization. The protagonist doesn't seem to think about anything in particular concerning his situation. He just seems to thrive on doing his best to make everyone around him frustrated and impotent. This is briefly amusing but quickly just becomes tiresome.I gave up after chapter 24.
