Oof. I actually enjoyed this! Honestly, I didn't expect the story to be really deep, in the whole world building sense. It was meant to be a light read but I genuinely enjoyed reading this, haha. I quite liked the character development as well-Luisen growing up but still being flawed and Carl also growing. Their dynamic is what sold it to me. So many common bl tropes are pushed aside here.I liked the emotional aspect they brought out in Carlton instead of Luisen, he's the one who's more delicate and sensitive to his surroundings all because of how he's brought up. Luisen and him have a super sweet bond and they understand each other, it's so cute how the whole plot come together.Spoiler
Also Ruger, hah. Honestly I agree that death had to be his salvation so I also felt sorry for him. And all those moments when Luisen's childhood bits came up made me teary eyed because of how proud his retainers were of him. He was just an pampered orphan led astray.
