The key to staying sane when you have been given the ability to infinitely regress = take vacation cycles. Even in an apocalyptic world, mental health matters. The world here is literally against humans. Imagine, after destroying one anomaly, another one pops up with its destructive force several levels higher, so I agree with the MC that the future of humanity seems bleak. It doesn't help that these anomalies are based on human culture thus they can really f*ck up your mind. So it's no surprise that the MC has gone kinda insane (not fully since he takes care of his mental health) from all the regressions but amazingly, is still fundamentally good. Each arc can honestly serve as the framework for an entirely new novel. The story is actually really dark if you remove all the humorous nuances that the MC adds to all his relationships and dialogues with the others. Everyone is just trying hard to survive in a world against survival, and even when you do survive, you might live long enough to be the one ending the world.Though admittedly, my favorite aspect of this novel is the dark humor. I personally think that's a very helpful coping mechanism.
