This novel has been irritating me since I read it a few weeks ago. I started with Runaway Guide (different pov but covers the same events), dropped it, started ABO cadets (without realizing that it's the same universe) and then picked up Runaway Guide again to find out how the story ends. Both novels have the same plot holes and logic problems (Wayward Guide even more imho) : Omegas die if they are not "accompanied" by an alpha during their estrus, that's the world setting. Ok, but what about widows? What about the omegas whose husbands are deployed and unavailable? Nobody has been able to find a medical solution for this problem but at the same time people can develop and manufacture new omega drugs in their home labs?Ok, bending science into a pretzel and letting people do s*upid things to advance the plot, I can ignore that. But what really really irritates me is the s*x. I'm currently reading You've got mail: a cautionary tale, which is quite hardcore (at least for me) and the author really goes out of their way to make it clear that the shou enjoys himself and that it's consensual. I don't get that feeling here. I can't tell if the omegas are into it or if it is an involuntary physical reaction. And the things those alphas say ("I'm not letting you off so easily", "Don't think we are done after one round", stuff like that) do not really help.
