TL;DR: Not for the faint-hearted, doesn't have cute moments, takes a bit to get used to the random violence and reading the story in between, but it's enjoyable overall and has quite a bit of future potential. The translation is also pretty good.

----------------------

A story about a psychopath who isn't specifically designed to be more likable. She doesn't reflect the psychopathic side of the thoughts of regular people (like people coming up with plans to mu*der someone without actually doing it) but rather is a pure psychopath with literally zero empathy; she doesn't even understand the concept.

She's brutally toying with actual people (i.e. Torturing and injuring them) just to see what happens and has eventually stopped doing so in reality due to being told, not because she understands the reason, and now she's found a release in this VRMMORPG.

She doesn't talk that much, so most of the early chapters don't allow for a deeper view into her character and she seems pretty flat, but the most recent chapters at the time of writing this review start to show the first signs of depth and character development.

The game itself is the standard unrealistic one where players entirely dive into a game world that for some reason has incredibly high realism (especially in regards to violence) and even supposedly transmits pain. Supposedly the highest setting (which the MC chooses) can also affect you in real life if a vital organ is destroyed. This doesn't ever come up again however. There are tons of unnecessarily detailed skills and it seems foolish to even try to keep track of them because of how fast the MC requires them. The important ones will come up in the story anyway, the rest is just bloating the status.

Lastly, concerning the society of players in the game: I vaguely understand that they would be opposed to killing friendly NPCs that don't respawn (again, who would make a game like this?), but I just don't understand the emotional attitude towards more or less instantly respawning players being killed in a game that has PvP enabled as a clear part of its design. Again, unlike what was mentioned before, nobody is said to have died from it in real life, and even if they did, it would have been their fault for having their pain setting at maximum (I mean it would technically be the fault of the provider of the game, but that is where one has to suspend their disbelief). People running around in PvP games indiscriminately killing literally everyone they see including NPCs is absolutely not a rare phenomenon in reality, but for some reason her attitude of doing it rather than her skill of being able to do it is what other players focus on (they do mention her skill, but in reality it would be the only thing anyone cares about, not the actual act of killing other players in a PvP game).

Cont….the fact she keeps suggesting the dream state, guilt toward Luca for keeping secrets from him….but nothing for Jackson.  Why the double standards?   Why does one mate who you only have attraction to get so much…but other who you are attracted to AND share something profound gets NOTHING?!

This book is truly amazing, I wish we could know if there is going to be updates anytime soon so we don’t get our hopes up. Anyway, the most important thing is that the author is ok, there’s no need to disrespect, we are all struggling this times. I’ll wait as long as necessary, I really love it...️
