The MC's reasoning behind not helping the female lead is that since he's not the original jackass who bullied and tortured the female lead therefore he has no obligation to help her. Which is such pathetic reasoning because there are lots of situations where no one is at fault but someone has to be the bigger person and solve the issue but in this case the MC expects the physically tortured, mentally ill and depressed woman to just "get over it" just because he's said sorry? Like excuse WTF what kind of self righteous idiot are you. This story is literally analogous to watching a person drown and even though you have the ability to swim you ignore the person because you have no obligation to help them; that's logically correct but no sane person would actually support you
[collapse]I wouldn't even hate the story so much if the author DIDNT KEEP JUSTIFIYING the MC's actions like he's the good guy here. Finally is this supposed to be a tragedy? Because the author doesn't know how to write one. There are two types of tragedies, one where no matter what the characters do bad things are fated and destined to happen but this story clearly shows how the MC's actions have caused more suffering for the female lead so it can't be it. The second type of tragedy is where the characters due to their flawed human nature cause all sorts of suffering they could have avoided but in this type of tragedy YOU NEVER JUSTIFY the characters actions as good which the author keeps doing with the MC.Just I'm baffled that people actually like this; I rarely get emotional over fiction but like at some point seeing the female lead suffer AGAIN AND AGAIN you wonder like what's the point here? Like what is the author's message? Abandon people in suffering to enjoy your life? I sincerely hope this author is just a terrible writer and he doesn't really believe in the message of the story because it's outright evil.
