How the Sidekick Prince Lives Again Chapter 238 Discussion

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion and I've always been a lurker (sorry translator-san I enjoy your work btw please keep the good work going!) and I don't like clashing opinions either but I think there are several things in need of being pointed out after I saw one review ^^;

I actually never saw the MC being put into dangerous situations. This is not that kind of novel. Like this isn't an action-packed novel ^^; I'd actually understand it more if people were to say everything was too smooth sailing for the MC lol. The past was tragic, but his life after regression was more of mental growth and the struggles with it. Not physical struggle.

For the Western fantasy x Omegaverse x Palace/political drama thing, I remember all reviews and even the translator said this is very romance-focused and other plot points aren't so much emphasized. If you still jump in the work expecting something as vast as Turning, this isn't for you for sure. (It's valid based on the work length too. Turning is 1000+ chapters as of now and its part 1 was politics/fantasy-focused, and the romance is only developed more in part 2. Sidekick Prince is just barely 250+ chapters for main story like you can't possibly expect that much).

Sidekick Prince also follows the typical rofan/isekai worldbuilding of KR/JP novels where the setting is a Western-Oriental mix. Please remember authors don't have the duty to strictly follow actual historical Western setting because fantasy is fantasy for a reason. (Unless it's a work like Anti-roman whose setting is clearly detailed as France in the 1820s.) Besides, it has already been explained since like, chapter 5, that even if the imperial family is allowed to take other spouses, it's restricted at max 2. For the Emperor, it's one Empress and one Imperial Consort. Even Hongzhi Emperor in history only took one single wife despite being a Chinese Emperor so I don't get the complaints about having just 2 wives and 1 is already dead...

Other elements do exist. There are shamans, elves, and dwarves in the background. But MC is a normal human with fairy blood and the ML is a knight, and I don't see anything like Magic or Elf tagged in NU page either so shouldn't it be expected that there is not much detail about them? And it's not like they're completely ignored either; they do play small roles that are important from time to time.

Spoiler

Fairy blood plays a very vital part in the story (and the MC's silver hair purple eyes were inherited from his mother not even his father who has fairy blood...) so I suggest people actually read the story instead of glossing over such obvious elements.

After all, fairy blood was the reason why he regressed, and also the reason why his ab*se began in the first place.

[collapse]

Betas are looked down upon due to being considered 'less developed' i.e. they don't have as good senses as A/Os and the abilities of Beta imperial members are also weaker than A/Os even if not that much. As is the case with any history even in real life, just a little justification sometimes is more than enough to cause ostracization for years (yeah, like female rulers in real life). What I like about the work is that even if Betas are despised, the only ones actually directly abusing MC were the Empress, the grandfather Marquis, and the childhood friend who later became Emperor. Because, after all, MC is a Prince. (This is a logical change compared to those rofans I read where even maids mistreat the FLs outright even if FLs are nobles. The caste system exists for a reason.) KR BLs don't follow the typical media you may have read somewhere else that Omegas are auto despised. There's nothing like Omegas = automatically looked down on or if Betas are looked down on, it means they are taking over that role. The danmei system doesn't apply here.

For the Omegaverse setting, it's already been explained several times that: male Betas can only have children with female Betas (which can only birth Beta children) and dominant Omegas (which can birth children of all A/B/O genders). Male Betas can't be imp**gnated because they don't have a uterus in the first place, so please read it carefully to explore how Omegaverse is set in this specific work instead of bringing other Omegaverse prejudices in.

As said again and again, this is a very, very romance-focused work. But I do like how the side chars aren't just cardboard either. Even if they don't go through major developments, they do have their own personalities, traumas, and pasts (especially the imperial family's side; the Emperor and the little sibling were heartfelt to read).
