The story was good at first. The MC was really likable, if a bit um, I wouldn't say a pushover, since he wasn't. He was very pragmatic. He knew that his reputation was bad due to unfounded rumors but it wasn't something he could control. Like he couldn't control how people treated him. But he had a very bad habit of not setting up boundaries with the ML. This is what finally turned me off and made me drop the novel.

The ML is obsessed with MC. I suspect he's lived multiple times. Some of his words hints to that. Anywho, he has this tendency of saying MC is his spouse and that they are a married couple, despite the fact that a, they are not and b, it makes MC uncomfortable. MC, the family and everyone else treat it like its a joke. A running time joke that started back in school or whatever. To me, a joke is funny but MC is not laughing. He's unhappy since the public opinion is that they are in a relationship. They are not. Any protest from MC makes it seem like MC is trying to hide it. But goes too far when ML slips an engagement ring on MC that can't be taken off, without asking or permission from MC. Like what? How dismissive can you be of MCs feelings? And the author still has MC playing it off like its not a big deal because the specs of the ring is good? Really?

I just couldn't get passed that. It was very disrespectful and I don't find it cute or funny. There is only so far you can go with a joke that wasn't funny to begin with, and forcing someone into a role they didn't agree to. So pass. The translation was lovely. It made ready so smooth and easy.
