The novel is great, the only problem is market fatigue.I find this to be charming in many ways, but ultimately, I've been done in by the glut of super hero fiction lately popular in the U.S. market. The concept is refreshingly light and fun, while the stakes are literally world ending. The contrast is a nice tension, and the harem I find annoying, but ultimately the main character's devotion to the hero sort of redeems that as well. Its annoying still, but its refreshing in that regard that he seems to be a devoted person swarmed with options and good will... however that's also an annoyance as the protagonist is by design largely ignorant of all of it, which I find unpleasant and something that at odds with just how particular the story is, might be one of its largest contrivances.
