TranXending Diarrhea

As many of us have experienced with the novels that we love, it's not uncommon for a translator to take an extended leave of absence, often without any notice or explanation at all. Sometimes, we only find out that they're not coming back after they.. just don't. This is particularly bad in the case of translators that accept payment, in any form, for their translation work; but I feel that even hobbyist fan translators, working for free, do owe it to their followers and fans to post a quick announcement if and when they plan to cease translating, at the very least. It's, uh, really not too much to ask.

I would not have believed, before today, that someone could take this responsibility too far.

I have just read, I am sure, the most lengthy and evocative description of an entire family's diarrhea that I am ever likely to in my life. I now invite the rest of you to suffer with me:

Same with me. I'm always the only one that remains healthy when the rest of my family gets sicks. I remember hating it a lot because being the only one left healthy meant all house chores goes to me. Still feeling frustrated till today

Wow, that was quite..... a read. Um... I only have diarrhea if what I eat doesn't mix well and I don't vomit it out.

It happens

Probably the worst case was in elementary school. It was something like food poisoning or salmonella idk, had to go to the hospital. Yeah it was really bad

If you get sick from food in restaurants they gotta be checked whether they work appropriately with hygiene, it's so easy to make a lot of people sick, and sometimes shady restaurants gotta be shut down because of the lack of hygiene

in my hometown there was a case of water poisoning that lead basically all the residence to have diarhhea so in my case im fairly used to this desu~

I feel for her and hope that not translating the novel will provide some semblance of normalcy... That being said, the post was pure comedic gold. I could not put down reading it. This post will be archived onto my computer at how well descriptive it was. I could just visualize the conundrums you were in and strangely felt both sympathetic and satisfied at the end. Regardless as you step away from the translating circle please do not stop writing, continue to do so in some capacity.

Yeah, my first thought while reading about the kids vomiting all night long was "at what point are you going to take these kids to a doctor?" ... But, eh, maybe that's an overreaction. The kids were fine in the end, anyway.

Not like it's always easy or affordable to see a doctor, either.

Just don't drink unfiltered beer after fresh yoghurt, especially if you had eaten something like authentic Korean or Sichuan cuisine before
