As many of us have experienced with the novels that we love, it's not uncommon for a translator to take an extended leave of absence, often without any notice or explanation at all. Sometimes, we only find out that they're not coming back after they.. just don't. This is particularly bad in the case of translators that accept payment, in any form, for their translation work; but I feel that even hobbyist fan translators, working for free, do owe it to their followers and fans to post a quick announcement if and when they plan to cease translating, at the very least. It's, uh, really not too much to ask.
I would not have believed, before today, that someone could take this responsibility too far.
I have just read, I am sure, the most lengthy and evocative description of an entire family's diarrhea that I am ever likely to in my life. I now invite the rest of you to suffer with me:
