As people have seen with Very Pure and Ambiguous and the prequel, the author can write well, but he just had to throw himself into the xuanhuan genre (what you guys know as xianxia). What's more is that SBPB has been dragging on for too long. We just finished a completely pointless arc about 2 months ago, and that lasted for several months, or even a year. Furthermore, the MC sorts of 'collects girls' and doesn't do anything. He kind of just... leaves them alone after confirming their relationship, heck, after he went onto 天阶岛 (another dimension), he never actually actively looks for any of the girls that went with him. Rather... He cultivates, goes about with his normal life and 'collects' more girls. Another issue is that there is not much depth into most of the girls. Out of his harem, the only girl that is fully fleshed out is Tang Yun. Chu Mengyao, despite being the school beauty referred to in the title, doesn't really get much development. She's just a typical tsundere. Her relationship with the MC literally goes like this: Finds him intrusive > Finds him annoying > Gets jealous of other girls > Cannot live without him. That's too big of a jump.
Oh yeah, another issue is that the author has started to 'waste chapters'. Basically, for Very Pure and Ambiguous and Very Pure and Ambiguous - The Prequel, he never really released several chapters per day that could actually all be written in 1 chapter (considering the length of the chapters). However, for School Beauty Personal Bodyguard, he has. In January, he was releasing 5 chapters a day, but the 5 chapters had the content of 2 chapters (which is what his normal release speed is). It's the same for right now, when he's releasing 3 chapters a day, and the content is basically nothing.
